New day, new campaign rally, another outrageous remark by Dame Patience Jonathan. The comments by the First Lady are purportedly to campaign for the re-election of her husband, incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan, but they may be having the opposite effect.

Her latest controversial outburst occurred on Monday at a rally for the women’s wing of PDP in Ado-Ekiti at which the Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, and his wife Feyisetan were also present. During the rally, Mama Peace stated that she is not ready to feed her husband in prison if APC should win. Below are some excerpts from her speech, as reported by Punch...

Nigerian news is making me so heartsick. Almost 300 girls are missing, some may be dead! And how did we end up with people like Goodluck and Patience Jonathan in Aso Rock? I watched the president's media chat where he said journalists know more than he does, and now seeing videos of Patience, "There is God o" because your baseless committee was shunned?

We're loving this picture of Nigerian president and first lady, Goodluck and Patience Jonathan as they attended the Elysee Summit on Peace and Security in Africa. RML particularly commends the news that the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, in an advocacy meeting on sexual violence against women, called for stiff penalties, backed by effective laws, for perpetrators of sexual violence against women. We hope she follows up her words with action now they are back in Nigeria.

We Thank God For Dame Patience Jonathan, But...

Posted in: , ,
Dame Patience and Goodluck Jonathan at portrait unveiling

I am very happy for Dame Patience Jonathan. In a recent thanksgiving for her continued good health, she talked about her three months in the hospital, her near-death experience and how she survived thus:

“I remember when Chief Obasanjo was the President of the country, I was close to his late wife, Stella. We worshiped together in this chapel. It was a painful moment for me that time when she (Stella) died and her corpse was brought here. That was how my corpse would have been brought here. It was not an easy experience for me. I actually died, I passed out for more than a week. My intestine and tummy were opened.

“I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost. “A black doctor in London who is with us in this service was flown in when the situation became critical. It was God himself in His infinite mercy that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven days.
